OWNER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, INSTRUCTOR
Lauren Hanna (she/her/hers) is the owner and Creative Director of Dance Out Loud, offering high-quality and meaningful Boston-based recreational adult dance classes to dancers and non-dancers alike. Lauren has been dancing since the age of 5, and began her dance journey in Holyoke, MA at what is now Ohana School for Performing Arts. Her love for dancing grew in her initial technical training in ballet, tap, contemporary, broadway and commercial jazz, which led her to continue dancing throughout college and beyond! For the past 8 years, she has been a part of Boston’s Trend N Motion Dance Crew performing all across New England and placing 1st at competitions such as Beantown Bounce (2017), Bring Da Hype (2018), and Boston’s Best Dance Crew (2019). Lauren has been a commercial dancer in various projects with artists such as Shorty C, Jzon, ToriTori, Dutch Rebelle, Oompa, and more! She began her professional dance journey when she was employed as a dancer of Six Flags New England in 2014, and has since performed at venues such as First Night Boston, The Museum of Fine Arts, The Boston Science Museum, Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods, and the Apollo Theater. Lauren currently serves as the Assistant Director of BONDS: A Dance Film and her choreography has been featured in BONDS showcase (2022), Dance Heels LIVE showcase (2022), and The Boston Salsa Fest (2023). Her goal is to empower people to dance out loud and live out loud!
Dance Out Loud was inspired from dance classes where you simply learn a dance and go home - nothing else! Lauren strives to build a community, value the whole person, and empower everybody to be on their personal growth journey without compromising dance technique.
Real customers, real experiences, real stories!
“Coming to Head to Heels classes helps me grow not just as a dancer, but as a woman by building confidence, finding my natural glow, and bringing out the artist inside me. I really appreciate all the feedback and push from Lauren. She is such an important part of my dance journey!”
“Head to Heels stood out to me because Lauren provides a very unique experience that is hard to come by in the MA/RI area. In this area, there is a very small heels community and a limited variety of classes offered, but Lauren takes the time to plan foundation classes, beginner to advanced classes and 4 week intensive series! She really creates a personal relationship with each dancer that walks through her doors, provides a welcoming dance environment, and attends to each dancer's needs. She truly displays her passion and knowledge while teaching classes. Head to Heels has helped with my self-love and confidence!"
“Lauren creates such a safe space for dancers of all levels to grow and learn in. Head to Heels is truly a great community with an empowering class environment!”
“Head to Heels has boosted my confidence and pushed me to try new things!"
"I have never felt more confident and welcomed than in the Head to Heels community. It is the best environment for dancers at all levels. I love my Head to Heels family!"
"I LOVE Head to Heels! Lauren has really helped me grow in the art of Heels dancing. During the long work weeks, I look forward to Head to Heels classes because they are always so much fun! I always leave classes feeling excited, confident, and ready for the next one!"
"I heard about Head to Heels classes when I first got to Boston. I decided to take a class because I've always loved to dance. Head to Heels goes far beyond dance. In one dance project, we had to choose a goal for the group. We chose, "perform with facials by feeding off each others’ energy.” That phrase made so much sense because that is what I feel in our classes – supported, encouraged, and inspired by each other! Taking a Head to Heels class with Lauren and Casey was the best choice! They are so kind and talented, and I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community. Since taking Head to Heels classes, I feel more confident and happy."
